Well well well, what do we have here? Ya boy swaggtalk 100 was talking with a co-worker in the IT dept at work and this pic you’re seeing here came up in the discussion. This little nostalgic looking device here is called the “ATARI 2600“. The game system that started it all. This day in age we have systems like “PLAYSTATION 3“,  the “X-BOX360“, and a personal fav of mines, the “Wii“. My older heads out here knows and i bet have lots of memories of playing ATARI back in the days.

The games did not have near as much graphics as the game sytems of today, but there were some fun games for the ATARI back then. Games such as pac-man, ms. pac-man, donkey kong, space invaders, pole position, and my favorite(i was the best in the hood at this game) galaga. back then if you didnt have the ATARI2600, you could easily go to the nearest gameroom…and for 1 quarter, you can get ya game on.

I dont remember what year they stopped making the ATARI but, alot of kids was dissappointed when it happened. but soon after that, the first sytsem with some real graphics that launched was the good ol NINTENDO. i luv that system as well.

But the ATARI2600 was definately the  throwback this tuesday.

i hope this bring back memories for some…and for my youngins, look it up and check out where all these new games and systems started!

    @ row
there are links or at least thought there were
your right on previous posts we could click the name throughout the posts to future our knowledge base.

the Atari2600 best selling game was Pac-Man
and the optional controller input for this game was joystick, paddles, driving controller, trak-ball then keypad.

always add links to your posts (by clicking the name and adding the link while editing) we love info about all these items somewhat out off if we have to *seek* it out

Originality at its finest moment- now all this post is missing is the link backs to all the important info like webmaster and webmistress would included in their posts for each words meaning something as in facts or main subject. Looking forward to seeing more better articles in the future.

@ ed…yes it did. i used to love that game. but my favorite game on atari was galaga(somethin like space invaders), ms. pac-man and donkey kong. and your fathers probably right, cause when you look at the games now, you’d probably say “UUUUULLLL, where’s the graphics”?lol but back in the day, every kid wanted an atari!

    This is really a throwback!

This is even before my time. I always wanted to play an Atari, just so I can see what it’s like. My dad, who’s also a game nerd says it was horrible. My first gaming experience was the NES (the Nintendo system you mentioned).

Did this game have like, Space Invaders and stuff? lol!

thanks novi….you remember those joysticks?? those joints used to last a long long time. hey what was the name of the game where you try to stop the ball from going thru the side of the screen? that was like one of the first ever video games made.
