Dont give it away, throw it away…um no!

January 7, 2010

So its like 4:00am something here, its nasty out the weather is just awful, mean while i`m up starting my day with a nice cup of coffee and Danish when i`m browsing online and seen a interesting story…

You know these days we all live in such a wonderful, caring place where everybody, who is anybody will give you the shirt off their backs, the country could’nt be in a better state of mind right now…damn let me pinch myself i`m seriously dreaming, ok the cold reality is

we do NOT live in a care-free place  and there are some very selfish people floating about who could care less about the next person no matter how much they have to give or could help who  just dont “give a damn”attitude apparently the season for giving has passed because….

According to the  New York Times,

At the back entrance on 35th Street, awaiting trash haulers, were bags of garments that appear to have never been worn. And to make sure that they never would be worn or sold, someone had slashed most of them with box cutters or razors, a familiar sight outside H & M’s back door.

A few doors down on 35th Street, hundreds of garments tagged for sale in Wal-Mart — hoodies and T-shirts and pants — were discovered in trash bags the week before Christmas, apparently dumped by a contractor for Wal-Mart that has space on the block.

OMG, it’s unbelievable how some people do not care nen a little with those around you. Here we say that Brazil is a country very supportive. And it is. Some cities like the one I live (Rio de Janeiro) has not very cold seasons, but we are seeing people making donations of clothing. In fact, it is quite common you see a neighbor or relative giving things that they don’t want to any charity. Perhaps it’s because of social difference, when someone is very rich, he can’t imagine the need of the poor. Maybe here where most of all are kinda poor, we understand each other better! LOL

@ Raquel- giving back and just for the hell of it just makes you feel great about yourself deep down inside to me, i`ve donated in just recent months myself could’nt ever imagine just throwing things out let alone slashing them, that seems simply idiotic.

Sad but true. Also this happens at Walmart’s all over the country. I’m sure some other retailers also do it but Walmart has made headlines for this sort of *anti-charity* policies before. It’s one of the reasons I don’t shop there anymore.

Top notch post! Glad I brought my coffee over to your place this morning.

@ Oktyabr- well its always a pleasure to have you as well as the others here
now ive never heard of Walmart doing that before so thats a first, guess i`m with you on the nomore shopping at walmart. I`ll miss those cool prices on house hold items, rather spend my hard earned money with those who care about more than their own behinds.
